What is Stretching? The canvas is "stretched" around the frame and fastened on the back, giving it a taut appearance. You have two edge thickness choices and five edge color choices.

What is Gallery Wrapping? We mount your canvas print on a wood frame just like an oil painting. The portion of the image that is 1" to 2" from the edge is wrapped around the stretching bar. While most people do not frame gallery wrapped prints, your print can of course be easily framed if you like.

• White, Black and Colored Edges: The edges of your stretched canvas print will be white, black or colored. Image will still wrap approx. 1/8 - 1/4" inch to account for the rounded edges of the stretching bars.
• Gallery Wrap Image: We wrap your image around the edges. Because your image is wrapped around the edges of your print, your image will appear cropped on the front of your print. Before selecting this option make sure there is no detail near the edges of your prints that you would not want wrapped, such as a person's head, a signature, etc.
  
  **Note: Prints on 3/4" bars will lose about 1" of image all the way around due to wrapping. Prints on 1.5" bars will lose about 2" of image all the way around due to wrapping. This can be in addition to any other cropping needed to get the size you order. We are not responsible for image area lost when you choose this option.

• Mirror Wrapped Image: Create the illusion of a Gallery Wrap without wrapping portions of your image that you would prefer were still on the front of the canvas. We take a section of image near the edges, copy it and flip it to the sides. The print appears without close inspection to be a gallery wrap.

• Other Color: Choose an area of your image that has the color you would prefer. We will reproduce that color on the edges of your gallery wrapped canvas print. Image will still wrap approx. 1/8 - 1/4inch.

Cropping Information:

Why we may have to crop your image when you order a canvas print:

When part of your image is cut off and does not appear in the print, this is called cropping. Cropping is necessary when you order a canvas print with different proportions than your file image.

Canvas Prints ARE cropped if needed. Paper prints are NOT cropped.

Try to order your canvas prints in the same proportions as your file to limit cropping. If your file requires cropping, we will use our best judgment as to what to crop out and are not responsible for overly cropped images. We generally crop evenly from all sides. Cropping is done automatically by our software to get your selected size, so if your file proportions are different then the size your order, cropping will occur. If cropping is a concern, you should crop your file yourself.

Here are examples:

If you order a 8" x 9" print but you send us an 8" x 10" image, we would have to crop/cut 1" off your image to make it fit the 8" x 9" inch print you ordered. So say you order an 20" x 30" canvas print using that same 8" x 10" digital file, then your image would be cropped about 2" on both sides because an 8 x 10 enlarged to your ordered size would be 24" x 30", not 20" x 30".

This cropping is done automatically by our software unless you select "yes" on the order page for us to change your print size to more closely match your image size. If you select "no," your image will be automatically cropped to fit the size your ordered.

Most canvas prints we do are cropped and with most images, cropping is not a problem because we try to minimize the change to the overall image appearance in the choice of the cropped area, but if you are concerned about cropping, then you have several choices.

Cropping Tips:

Order your canvas print in the same or close to the same proportions as your digital image to limit cropping.

Crop your image first yourself, so you can control what is cropped out. 

Unless you require and exact size print, just order the size you want or think is correct and select "yes" for us to change the size of the print you ordered to closely match the image proportions that you sent. We will adjust your ordered print size down to a size closer to your image proportions using our best judgment. Some slight cropping may still occur.

On paper prints we generally do not crop, so if the file proportions and size ordered are not exact, your paper prints may not be the exact size you order.

In response to your requests, we have searched for bargain priced papers that still have good performance. The longevity of this product will be long, but may not be “archival”. The color gamut (range of colors accurately reproduced) may not be quite as large as the fine art papers and particularly in the darker regions, the colors may be a little “muddy”. If price is a major consideration, you may want to proof this paper with a subject of yours. Having said all that, we are generally pleased with the performance of this textured paper from a supplier with a fine reputation. It is intended for works with a loose, expressive style. This art paper’s textured surface can also add a more painterly look to photographic prints and art reproductions. It can add surface dimension and visual interest to paintings and images that consist mainly of bold, loose strokes instead of intricate details.
